A 12-story mixed-use academic facility

New York University’s Constance Milstein and Family Global Academic Center establishes NYU’s presence in the nation’s capital with a 12-story, 75,000-square-foot mixed-use building. Designed by Hickok Cole Architects, the building will accommodate 150 students and serve a variety of functions. The lower levels include seminar and meeting rooms, offices, a 200-seat auditorium, and a spacious lobby that will also serve as a student lounge and a venue for special events. The center includes five floors of dormitories and visitor apartments; two floors of faculty and offices; and four stories of classrooms, lecture halls, and student life space. Engineering for the unique building, which is targeting LEED®-Gold certification, required the design of three distinct HVAC/electrical distribution spaces.
