An 11-story federal agency headquarters complex

The new headquarters for the US Coast Guard will be located on the historic Saint Elizabeths campus in southeast Washington, DC. The design-build team includes Clark Construction with WDG Architecture, HOK, and McKissack & McKissack. The 1.2-million-square-foot complex will accommodate 3,500 agency employees upon opening in 2013 and includes an 11-story office tower, two 7-story parking garages, and a separate utility plant. State-of-the-art technologies, aimed at a LEED®-Gold certification, include 400,000 square feet of green roofs, capture and reuse of stormwater runoff, and highly efficient HVAC and lighting systems.
