A landmark one-million-square-foot mixed-use development
The development of CityMarket at O, a major new mixed-use community, will anchor the revitalization of northwest Washington, DC’s historic Shaw neighborhood. The breakthrough project, which is targeting LEED® Gold, includes the rehabilitation of the historic O Street Market building, constructed in 1881, along with two nine-story apartment towers, a 72,000-square-foot Giant supermarket, two stories of below-grade parking, and market retail space. Considered a landmark project for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the $124 million CityMarket at O is the only mixed-use project to be fast-tracked by the federal government through an expedited permitting and environmental review process. The residential component includes 150 condominiums, 400 apartments, and 86 affordable units for senior citizens. The project team includes Roadside Development and architect Shalom Baranes Associates.
