DC Preservation League Award of Excellence in Rehabilitation and New Construction

DC AIA Award for Excellence in Historic Resources

Set in the city’s East End, 1155 F Street integrated four historic commercial buildings into a 12-story office tower with a six-story atrium bridging the old and new construction. The architectural team of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects, Shalom Baranes Associates, and HKS designed the award-winning restoration and new construction project, which includes a five-story, below-grade parking structure and a 110-foot skylight atop the atrium. In addition to the base building and preservation projects, Girard Engineering also completed engineering services for several tenant fit-outs, including offices for Facebook, Comcast, Home Depot Government Affairs, Clearing House, and Simpson, Thatcher & Bartlett.
